I discovered a great little Twitter growth hack the other day. It involves ‘developer tools for Chrome’ and a little bit of code. By adding a snipet of code in to dev tools you can follow a large amount of Twitter accounts in just a few seconds.
Before I explain how this can be done let’s look at why you would want to do this.
Okay so Twitter Cards can be a bit of a pain to set up when they don’t just work straight away. It’s a bit of a faff with image sizes & meta tags and I was back and forth on the Twitter card validator a fair few times before I was happy with how they looked.
Hopefully this guide below will save you some time when setting them up yourself.
Twitter cards are even more important now that Twitter are choosing to expand these cards automatically on mobile. This means adding an image to your Tweet is not as necessary as it used to be. This is because if you have Twitter cards set up on your blog an image and link preview (see TechCrunch tweet below) will automatically show up on mobile anyway.
Last week I spoke about how to maximise the power of social media (in particular Twitter) at the FSB National Conference in Glasgow to the team of FSB Regional Development Managers and Connectors. I had the mission of encouraging the group to create as much buzz on the event hashtag (#FSBConf) as possible to get it trending – which it did. Multiple times!
I love a good hack and this one is awesome! This Twitter hack allows you to find your email contacts on Twitter and follow them without having to pay for Twitter follow ads. This is a great way of boosting your Twitter followers with your actual customers. Getting your customers to follow you on Twitter is great as it brings them closer to you so they can get to know you, trust you and like you which means they will hopefully come back and buy from you again.
What do you need?
1. A Gmail account that you don’t use.
If you love time hacks then you will love IFTTT (If This Then That). Trust me it’s worth checking out. When I discovered this tool I got very excited and spent hours on the website exploring everything you can do with it.
IFTTT allows you to set up ‘recipes’ which means when a specific action is carried out another action is automatically triggered. A huge time saver when it comes to social media management.

This means that when you post an Instagram photo you can choose to natively share it to a Twitter account by using a chosen hashtag (set by yourself) in the Instagram photo caption.
